Laser data transmission

Wireless laser devices are usually applied primarily due to their high bandwidth and excellent data security. The FSO link is always full duplex and the given transmission rate always refers to real line rate, that is, e.g. a data transmission measured on a Gigabit Ethernet link exactly equates the value which can be measured between the two devices on an optical cable.

The laser beam applied is really narrow and it is invisible for the human eye or undetectable for any instruments in the areas outside the beam. The beam is generally hardly or not at all accessible due to the required direct view, and a detector placed into the beam can immediately be detected, accordingly, FSO is the least interceptible among the known data transmission technologies. The basic field of application for laser data transmission is the implementation of short distance and high bandwidth links.

The weather condition mostly influencing the operation of the laser link is fog. Pursuant to CEE weather statistics the recommended distance provides an availability over 99% in our country, however, as practical experience reveals it this generally falls within the 99.7-99.9% range.
